YOUR LAST MEETING.........................
by vitty in........................at my last meeting, the elder was talking about 1975 and said "it never happened, it is appostates using a time when (some) brothers took the info in the wt wrong"...................i just blinked and finally woke up.. i had been on this site lurking for a couple of weeks, and realized thing werent right, but to have some creep say on the platform " it didnt happen"............when this ruined my and my siblings childhood, just made me snap.
on the way home, i told my hubby "that was the last meeting im going to"................boy was he pleased.. .
so if you didnt get df ......................what happened at your last meeting.?.

Why Did I Allow My Hopes to Get Raised?
by XJW4EVR ina couple of months back, my son asked me to get in touch with my jw/elder father.
he is planning a trip to colorado to visit his mother's family there, and thought it would be good to see his grandfather.
since i have no contact with my father, i asked my cousin to broach the subject with him.

Are Jehovah's Witness men good catches?
by garyneal ini've stated this before on this message board but i was kind of curious about this and wanted to get some feedback from the group.

Yeah, they seem to live in Fantasy Land. But then he's a member of a cult so I shouldn't be surprised.

No, but my parents screwed up me and my sister. The best thing I have ever done in my life is to raise my 3 children outside of the JWs. It was my mission in life to raise my children in a completely different way than I was raised. My sister, unfortunately, has never had children and has not had that therapeutic experience.

Have your views on gays changed over the years?
by laverite insome questions....feel free to answer any or all of these.
have your views of gay people changed over the years?
do you have or have you ever had gay friends?

I think my views have changed 100% since I was a JW many years ago. I believe that Gays are born that way. I do not condemn them. I have known many over the years. I have worked with many gay people both male and female in hospitals. I have had gay hairdressers, gay masseuses.
I completely accept them as fellow human beings who have a different sexual orientation than myself. I think all of us are on a sexual attraction continuum anyway. There are few people that are 100% hetero or homo in my opinion. I think if we look into ourselves and explore sexuality we all have some attraction on some level to the same sex.
You won't hear that at the KH.

Help: What percentage of your income do you pay on rent/mortgage?
by daniel-p inso i'm trying to find a place to rent on the other side of the country, sight unseen.
i have a friend and real estate agent helping me, but it's pretty much a nightmare.
they've done several walkthroughs and sent pictures of some places, but things are looking grim.

We pay 12.9% of our gross pay on 2 houses. I consider us to live frugally. There are 5 people in our family. My recommendation is not to commit to too much mortgage payment. You won't have anything left for other things.

Do you really want to live forever?
by exwhyzee ini'm not sure if i do or if thinking the idea of living forever as a "good thing" was just something that was planted in my mind like a lot of the other stuff.
is the desire to live forever something that i really want or have i been taught that it is something that i should want?
i know i don't want to die, especially a violent death, but i can't imagine still wanting to be here 10 million years from now just because back in 19xx my parents concieved me.

Hell, no! Not with the JWs. That's exactly why I left to start with.
